the smell is bad, because you installed it incorrectly ! The output line need to go the vacuum line that you condem.
Easy tiger. I fixed it and updated the description and comments. The smell was caused by the drain straw idea. After I plugged it properly I haven’t had any issues.
Have GS 430 I.Put some race gas in it octane at 100 rating i believe and damn it really opens it up
Useful 👍🏽
Hey man Quick Question about the Front Exhaust Piece, is the Y pipe, the one that the 2 downstream 02 sensors plug into, my 98gs400 came off and I’ve came across a 430 front exhaust piece, looks the same & is cheaper than a gs400 front exhaust piece, do you think it will fit the 400? thanks for reading!
I’m not sure. What you can do is cross reference the part numbers. If they’re not the same, I wouldn’t chance it. I use this site a lot: www.toyodiy.com/
Besides Amazon, where can I purchase authentic Denso parts? Thank you.
You have to be very cautious buying anywhere these days. Denso direct, RockAuto, EBay are other options.
I used this on my 2010 pilot the engine sounded like poop for years I thought my tensioner was shot.. Immediately after the noise went away and the engine is running fantastic and no oil burn this will fix Hondas stuck piston rings
Looks like you’ve been working out !
I want to put a "Detoit Locker" in my LS400? Idk if that will fit.
I just replaced the XAT stage 2 clutch and it’s worth noting that a much better combo is as follows: 20lb flywheel. SPEC Stage 3+ clutch. Motul CMC/slave fluid. Pennzoil Synchromesh MT fluid. Compared to the combo I went with in the video series, these parts provide a much lighter pedal feel and much more “factory” experience. It should be noted that per XAT, if you go with the 20lb FW, you DO NOT use the flex plate spacer.
Where does one get the tool to raise the lift to put the wheels on?
From Stratus.
If you do understand physics and how the positive crank case ventilation system works then you'll know that you don't need to install two catch cans or have two hoses going into one catch can. This is simply due to the fact that the air going into your engine is cool filtered air coming from your intake pipe just after the air filter. From there, it goes into the engine and pressures build up and vacuum is created, mainly at low idle. Escape from your crank case upward towards your dirty side or back of your engine to the PCV valve. From there to your intake manifold is where you would install a catch can or oil separator. The one that you have will always be perfectly dry and clean, and the other side from the PCV valve will always be dirty. I don't know that the catch can work properly with 3 holes in them. I'd have to look at the top portion of the can. you may have already discovered that it doesn't work properly or that the one side is always clean. I'm just watching this video now. Thanks.
thank you thank you thank you !!! love this mod i just installed it on my gs300 and it feels more responsive, sporty feel and connected to the road! such a nice upgrade!! please keep more content like this one !
for key transmitter range, changing the battery worked. no I can literally unlock car from my room :v which is still close to my car but still through many obstacles
What transmission did you use?
AR5. For more info, be sure to check out the series.
My god, i appreciate the time, effort, explanation, and exactness you put into your videos! Ive been wanting to LSD my gs400, but i know how thatd be a slippery slope into doing "drift stuff"😂
I replaced my whole rack in my 400 with the upgraded adjustable one. No more 60 mph shake.
I just realized who you look like, Tony Hawk!
I have actually heard that before! 😎
@@ForwardMomentum haha my man
Great info!
Hi guys, I did this on my '99 GS but now I have lights on the dash, the brake/rear light orange light and the handbrake light (always) stay on, how do I get around this? All the lights on the facelight taillights are working well
Go back over the wiring again. Something incorrect was done.
I have a blk/blk '99 sc400, and I'm not sure I could ever part ways with it........and daily a '05 2uz Tree. I'm a little bit of a fanboy
Those SC body styles look really good IMO. One of my favs!
Which pedel assembly did you use
MKIV Supra from Grannas. Discussed in EP1 of the series.
did u make a dyno video?
No. That’s a ways out. Current clutch is smoked. After I get this stage 3+ in and headers on, I’ll probably do it.
is that a 1uz-fe motor?
Correct.
Good vid, thankyou
god bless these videos exist! I don't even have a gs but maybe I'll do this on my ls430 in the future. Thanks a lot for these high effort videos!
so if I understand you can still use the 2000 GS 400 stock housing but it would be easier to install if you got one that had a bolted carrier style?
2000 GS400 bolted carrier is preferred!
LSD should be standard on every car
What fuse/wire did you tap into for the ignition fuse? Is there a wiring diagram that you used? Thanks
It may have been CIG. Any non-critical 12V switched source is fine.
@@ForwardMomentum did you tap from the kick panel fuse box?
Yes.
Im surprised you did it all so proper but then re used the bearings? You can get away with it for sure but doing all that work then having a noisy diff would be annoying af. Solid video regardless 👍🏽
Well these bearings were not both available at the time either. So I rolled the dice. Thankfully the diff is flawless. 😎
What GS’s and model years come with the bolted style carrier? Thanks
I discussed it in EP1. MAR 2003 - 2005 GS430’s for sure, potentially some SC430’s did as well.
@@ForwardMomentum ah ok, I was intrigued because I have a 2004 GS300 and I’m wondering if it has the bolted style diff. I guess the easiest way to tell is just jacking up the car and taking a look
Man why no just buy diff from aristo and scrue all this work :D we wanna see some video of getting this baby spin
A lot of viewers are asking for the exact opposite: how to do it, step-by-step. I can’t please everyone. 💁😂
Aristo v300 has an open differential also. No GS from 97-2005 has a LSD
@@johnshaw3208 youre wrong aristo has torsen for sure i got that diff in my gs 430
@@malu6351 Hello, I'm not trying to be a know it all or anything like that. It's just that I've done alot of research on this topic. I have a 98 GS400 with an Aristo V300 2jzgte vvti swap making about 550hp wheel. The first lexus to have a LSD is the IS-F. Just Google it my friend.
How much did all of this cost you?
I did it the expensive way, so the figure I give you will not represent the budget method. For example, if you just get the LSD and put it in your existing carrier, it will be the price of the LSD and a few odds and ends. Maybe $1200-$1400 USD.
Thank you for this video I thew and broke my cover cause I couldn’t get the gasket out😂😂😂😂
This is only for vvti?
Basics steps apply to any UZ really. You’ll have to sort through the nuances.
I bought an '06 GS430 three years ago after driving my friend's. I found a very clean one (Damn near perfect) with only 52K miles and paid $11,500 for it. Interior was/is also perfect. Love this car!!
Lexus didn’t illuminate the upper section due to when you press the brake it will attract more attention when it’s not already lit. But cool anyway, think I’ll leave mine stock though.
Wouldn’t you want more attention if someone was braking ahead of you? What I read is that the CFRs in the US stipulate the amount of illuminated points on the rear of each USDM vehicle at the time of manufacture and that’s incorporated into the design. Therefore these positions were not active for those reasons at that time (it would have exceeded the OEM allowable CFR, at least in the USDM) and would have been a “wasted design” to have them active.
@@ForwardMomentum i agree with you. Maybe I didn’t word it clearly. Take yours and take one from the factory. Side by side people will see the one that is not lit on top far faster when a bright light comes on when applied compared to yours that’s lit all the time then a bright light comes on when the brakes are applied. A dark spot that lights up bright attracts more attention than a lit spot that’s lights up a tad more. But most modern cars now days are set up like the mod you did. I get why Lexus did that, for cost and safety.
I really like right-hand steering or right-hand steering
If we dont have the post cat o2 sensors anymore, do we have to wire them for the enricher?
I would ask SplitSecond about that. They’re pretty responsive.
Do you need to move the wiring harness like the ls400?
Everything I did is shown in the vid. Which wiring harness? The main harness? No. Just the WSS wire gets moved temporarily during install.
To check the fluid level on this system you have to follow the depressurization sequence of pumping the brakes at least 25 times with the key off. Then you add fluid to the line. If you don't do this first, it will look like the reservoir is low because once the pump turns on and the system pressurizes, fluid is stored inro the accumulator. So if you fill it up with it pressurized and the vehicle sits a little while without turning the ignition on, the system will slowly depressurize and the fluid will move back to the reservoir and leak out around the cap and get all over everything. Brake fluid is extremely corrosive and a great paint remover.
You want to make sure the system is depressurized before loosening any lines. This system stores around 2800 psi of pressurized brake fluid even if it has sat overnight. To depressurize, pump the brakes at least 25 times with the battery disconnected or at least have the ignition switch turned off. I would just disco the battery that way you don't have to worry about the brake lights or shorting something out, etc. Problematic system since the 80s on everything from BMW and Mercedes to Pontiac and Ford. Can't believe manufacturers continued to use this style of braking system into the 2000s. The domestic manufacturers ditched this style back in the early 90s and made the ABS actuator/pump assembly separate from the base power brake system. To rely on an electric pump to develop fluid pressure for power braking instead of a vacuum booster. Not to mention when the pump fails, you lose rear brakes altogether. If the pump has failed, there should be no pressure in the system. Something that you want to do on these Teves type systems is listen to how often the pump has to turn on. It should only run every 2 or 3 normal stops. ABS stops are different and the pump will run continuously during a panic stop. If you notice the pump turning on every time you press the brake or you see the ABS and brake warning lights staying on for a while after you park it for a short time, then you want to replace the accumulator. The accumulator is around $200 from Toyota, maybe more now, its been a while since I bought one. No bleeding is necessary for this service. But definitely depressurize the system prior to removing it.
Wondering if you have any experience with the ISR Single exit GT Exhaust? Looks like a newer kit, seems good value. Definitely don’t want too loud, any experience? Cheers
I have no experience. Single exits on the V8 are not very common.
Is this the same for the 3uz ? Buddy my ls430 failed :(
Should be, yes.
No need of beating the tunnel?
Just a little. I show it in the full series. Nothing major.
Why did you say the stock hp is 240? Its 300 stock. I have a fully customized gs 400. And worked at lexus..
Ah you were talking about to the wheel. Lol I suppose 🙄 drivetrain sigh
Correct. WHP. It’s astounding how much power the stock drivetrain eats up on these, but I guess that’s old tech and a comfy slushbox for you.
@@ForwardMomentum yep. I plan on boosting it one day but I'm enjoying every second of it now. I didnt think I would ever own one when I worked at Lexus, I took a video of one I think I uploaded it on here and I'm like hmm. I had it for I think 5 years now. Maybe 4. Sometime during the beginning of covid lol. Gonna subscribe and see how you boosted it. I only have about 40k on this new engine so I'm trying to not ruin it even though I know these can get a million miles out of the engine. I drive it to the cruise and car shows and around town but I dont like to soo much since if someone hits it.. it will be their last day lol. But yeah man love the videos. I got a turbo civic with 15 pounds and always loved aspirated cars but this has been such a difference. It has a ls400 differential. Imported 1uz, . Everything is different on it. The guy I got it from worked at lexus with me and he has soo many different cars from supras to lexus so he went through everything on this car. Been a interesting ride forsure
What was the part number for the koyo idler pulley?
I didn’t list it because it was given to me. Instead, I put an alternate in the parts list of EP1. If all else fails and you get the adapter plate from Travis, ask him if he has a recommendation. I believe he has it in the Elate instructions possibly.
@@ForwardMomentum Cool thanks! What size bolts did you use for the EGR block off plate? I appreciate you answering all these questions cause i'm following your build near exactly in my LS400
NP! I don’t have EGR on this engine, so I didn’t do that. There might be a couple places that do those for your car online. 👍
@@ForwardMomentum I’m referring to the block off on the SC on the back
I custom cut some metal and used FIPG to seal it, which I showed in my series. 😎
I see the LS400 brake upgrade
Good eye!
this i just happened to me !!! i own a 03’ gs300 sport design and the brakes were basically nonexistent .. Brake light, abs and the warning buzzer came on , i hope this video helps me , wish me luck
Great lift. Got rid Quickjack for this.
A step “up” for sure!
Can u do a timming video and a crankshaft seal replacement video please?
I can add it to the list, but it’s not going to be anytime soon.
@@ForwardMomentum thank u
